Amelia Tovey is a writer and director based on Gadigal Land, her work includes award-winning campaign ads, commercials, music videos and documentaries.
She has built a career working to uplift social movements and cultural moments. As co-creator of Shoot The Player, she created over 100 live music films on the streets of Sydney and New York, and as the documentary filmmaker for Embodiment: A Portrait of Queer Life In America her short films were exhibited internationally and featured in the New York Times. As the Senior Creative Producer at Blue State Digital she worked on landmark campaigns for marriage equality, and the Obama Foundation - and today she has two documentary features in development with funding from Screen Australia and Screen NSW.
As a storyteller, she’s passionate about igniting real feelings and exploring the space where poetry and realism come together.
